NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After helping the George Washington lacrosse team to an 11-10 Atlantic 10-opening victory over Richmond on Friday afternoon, freshman midfielder Olivia Boudreau was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Boudreau netted two goals, including the game-winner, to lift the Colonials (6-4, 1-0 A-10) to their first win over the Spiders since the 2008 season. The weekly nod marks the second for the North Andover, Mass., product, as she was also tabbed Rookie of the Week on March 5.

With the score knotted at 10-10 and just over two minutes showing on the clock, Boudreau collected a pass from junior Terasa Vassallo, who had picked up a ground ball following a Richmond turnover, and cradled it from end-to-end for the deciding goal. The rookie also scored the opening tally of the contest 2:11 into action to put the Colonials up 1-0.

The two goals were Boudreau’s ninth and 10th of the season, and along with her three assists she currently ranks fifth on the team with 13 points.

Boudreau and GW wrap a three-game homestand on Friday when the squad welcomes La Salle to the GW Lacrosse Field for a 4 p.m. contest.
