WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington freshman Laura Hostetler (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for women's lacrosse, the league office announced Monday. It marks her fifth A-10 weekly honor. She also was recognized by the Conference on Mar. 2, Mar. 22, Mar. 29 and April 5.
Hostetler scored a team-high four goals-including the game-tying and game-winning goals-in George Washington's come-from-behind 11-10 win over Massachusetts on Apr. 11. The victory was GW's fifth straight giving the Colonials their longest winning streak in the program's three-year history.
She scored a hat trick at Longwood (10-1) on April 6 helping hand the Division II school its first loss of the season. She also scored a pair of goals with an assist in a 14-7 victory over La Salle on April 9.
Hostetler's stats for the week of April 4-11: three games (all GW victories), nine goals, three assists, 12 points, 25 shots, 20 shots on goal, three caused turnovers and a groundball.
Hostetler leads the Colonials in points with 47, goals with 33 and is tied for the team lead in assists with 14 through the first 12 games of her collegiate career.
GW (7-5, 3-0 A-10) next plays at Duquesne (8-3, 2-1 A-10) this Friday at 4:00 p.m.
GW Lacrosse plays its home games at the GW-Mount Vernon campus located at 2100 Foxhall Road in northwest Washington.
