Lacrosse's Laura Hostetler Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

April 26, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington freshman Laura Hostetler (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for women's lacrosse, the league office announced Monday. It marks her sixth A-10 weekly honor. She also was recognized by the Conference on Mar. 2, Mar. 22, Mar. 29, April 5 and 12.

After being held scoreless in her two previous games, Hostetler exploded for a school-record seven goals in GW's final home game, a 16-6 drubbing of Mount St. Mary's on April 25. The seven goals eclipsed her own school record of six goals set Mar. 26 against Howard University.

Hostetler's stats for the week of April 18-25: two games, seven goals, two assists, nine points, 16 shots, 12 shots on goal and two caused turnovers.

Hostetler leads the Colonials in points with 58, goals with 41 and assists with 17 through the first 16 games of her collegiate career. All three totals are GW single-season records.

GW (8-8, 3-3 A-10) closes out the regular season at Saint Joseph's (6-5, 1-4 A-10) this Friday at 5:00 p.m. in Philadelphia.
