Honeyford Earns A-10 Rookie of the Week Award

May. 3, 2005

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Freshman Katelyn Honeyford was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on May 2. She is the second Colonial to win the award this season and it is the fourth straight week a GW performer has garnered the honor.

Honeyford registered her fifth goal of the campaign in GW's overtime loss at Temple on May 1. The rookie defender has points in 2005 and leads the team in draw controls with 25. She also ranks third on the squad with 20 caused turnovers and has started 16 of the Colonials' 17 games.

Honeyford joins classmate Caitlin Garman as GW players that have taken home Rookie of the Week honors this year. Garman won the award in each of the previous three weeks.

GW is seeded third in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship in Richmond and it will square off against the No. 2 seed, Duquesne, on Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.
