PHILADELPHIA, PA - The No. 2 seed George Washington women's lacrosse team takes on top-seeded Richmond in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Final at Temple's Geasey Field on Sunday at 3:00 pm. The title game will be televised on CSTV for the first time in league history.
GW extended its winning streak to four games by downing third-seeded St. Bonaventure 15-9 in Friday's second semifinal. Rookie Taylor Donohue set career-highs with six points and five goals as the Colonials erased an early three-goal deficit with eight unanswered goals between the first and second halves.
Richmond easily dispatched of the host Temple Owls 13-6 in the first semifinal game on Friday. The Spiders have won five consecutive games and two straight A-10 Championships.
Sunday's finale will pit head coaches who have a long history together in GW's Chrissy Lombard-Adair and Richmond's Sue Murphy. Lombard played for Murphy for four seasons at Boston University, earning America East Player of the Year from 1999-2001 and guiding the Terriers to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000.
