Katelyn Honeyford Named Second Team All-Region

2007 IWLCA All-Regional Teams in PDF Format WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington junior Katelyn Honeyford was named to the All-South Region Second Team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Wednesday, May 23. Honeyford, a defender/midfielder, becomes the first GW women's lacrosse player to earn All-Region recognition after leading the Colonials to an 11-7 overall record and the six-year program's first-ever Atlantic 10 Championship final. The First Team All-Conference selection led the team with 37 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers despite missing the final four games of the regular season. Honeyford also scored a single-season career-high 22 points on 17 goals and five assists and was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week on April 9. Honeyford was one of 10 conference players chosen for an All-Region team, joining Richmond's Mandy Friend and Jackie Swansburg on the All-South squad. In total, 128 student-athletes were honored by the IWLCA with inclusion on one of eight All-Region teams, with each of the four regions (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, West/Midwest) naming a first and second team. Honeyford is now eligible for the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announce on Tuesday, May 29. South Region Second Team
