Honeyford to Play in IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game

WASHINGTON - Former George Washington women's lacrosse defender Kelsey Honeyford '10 has been chosen to participate in the 2010 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North-South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, June 12. Honeyford, who is one of five defenders selected for the South All-Stars, is the fourth Colonial in as many years to earn a spot at the Senior All-Star Game, which will take place at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, PA, as part of the IWLCA Champions' Cup. Molly Gannon '07, Caitlin Garman '08 and Alaska Burr '09 also suited up for the South squad at the annual event which showcases the nation's top seniors. The Colonials' top one-on-one defender and 2010 team MVP, Honeyford earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors by consistently holding some of the Atlantic 10's top scorers in check. She finished the season tied for second on the team in caused turnovers (11) and fourth in ground balls (19). She started the final 51 games of her career, finishing 11th all-time at GW in ground balls (83) and 12th in caused turnovers (39). Just as consistent in the classroom, Honeyford has been named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll five semesters and earned Academic Honor Roll recognition from the IWLCA in 2009. She received her bachelor's degree in sport, event and hospitality management from the University last month. Honeyford is one of just two Atlantic 10 players chosen for the North-South Game along with North squad selection and Duquesne attacker Kathleen McNish. Opening draw for the Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game is set for 12:00 pm.
