Colonials Welcome Four-Team Field to GW Lacrosse Field May 1-3
July 9, 2014
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second time in its history, the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus will play host to the Atlantic 10 Championship, held from May 1-3, 2015, the league announced on Tuesday.
The Buff and Blue previously hosted the A-10 Championship during the 2006 season. The facility, which is located on GW’s Mount Vernon Campus in the Foxhall neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., was originally built in 2001 and underwent renovations in the summer of 2011 with the installation of a new Field Turf Synthetic Surface.
GW lacrosse has reached the A-10 Championship five times during its history as a varsity athletic program – 2005, 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2013 – and earned conference tournament bids in consecutive seasons in 2012 and 2013 for the first time in its history under the direction of Head Coach Tara Hannaford.
