GW Lacrosse Earns Eighth Straight IWLCA Academic Squad Honor
Colonials Have Tabbed 10 Academic Teams in Last 11 Years
WASHINGTON - The George Washington lacrosse team has been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA Division I Academic Squad status for the eight straight year and 10th time in the past 11 seasons, the organization announced.
Throughout the 2013-14 academic year, the Colonials boasted 19 student-athletes on GW's Athletics Academic Dean's List, while nine were named to the Fall 2013 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and eight earned a spot on the Spring 2014 A-10 Honor Roll.
This past spring, 2014 graduates Madison Pohle and Terasa Vassallo, in addition to then-juniors Jenn Seitz and Rachel Mia were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. Additionally, Vassallo earned the university's Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for being in the top two percent of seniors in GW's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, while also garnering the Colonials' Senior Female Scholar-Athlete award prior to commencement.
To achieve IWLCA Academic Squad status, teams must possess a 3.0 combined grade-point average or higher.
