2014 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

WASHINGTON
– Five members of the George Washington lacrosse team were named to the 2014 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Rising seniors Rachel Quinn, Jenn Seitz and Jacqui Stevens, along with 2014 graduates Madison Pohle and Terasa Vassallo, all earned a spot on the list. The quintet makes up the most Academic Honor Roll honorees in a season in program history for the Colonials, who recently earned IWLCA Academic Squad Status for the eighth straight year. The year-end award also marks the second consecutive honor for Pohle and Vassallo.

A biomedical engineering major, Quinn was named to the GW Athletics Academic Dean’s List and was a member of the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls. She appeared in seven games and logged two starts on defense for the Buff and Blue during her junior campaign.

Seitz was named to the 2014 A-10 All-Academic Team, was a member of the GW Athletics Academic Dean’s List and was also named to the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls. The finance major is three-year defensive starter, and during her junior season she ranked second on the squad with 36 draw controls – good for ninth on GW’s single-season list – while her 88 total draws won through three seasons ranks seventh all-time.

Stevens, an art history major, was named to the Spring 2014 A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll as well as GW Athletics Academic Dean’s List. She made nine appearances with two starts on defense during her junior season.

A 2014 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic Team selection, Pohle graduated this past spring with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She was a member of the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls and was also named to the GW Athletics Academic Dean’s List. The senior co-captain started every game on defense during her final season and paced the Colonials with 29 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.

Vassallo graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering after being selected to the A-10 All-Academic Team. A Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll honoree, Vassallo was also named to the GW Athletics Academic Dean’s List. The co-captain earned the university’s Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for being in the top two percent of seniors in GW’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, while also being named the Colonials’ Senior Female Scholar-Athlete award winner. She started every game, tallying 13 goals and dishing out two assists for 15 points during her final campaign.

To earn IWLCA Academic Honor Roll status, student-athletes must have achieved at least junior status academically and possessed a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or greater.
