Marisa Lozano Named Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach
Sept. 29, 2010
"Marisa has already been a great addition to our program," said Hannaford, who is in her fourth season at GW. "Her collegiate experiences combined with her passion and enthusiasm for the game will make her an outstanding coach."
Lozano's duties will include coordinating the team's offense and recruiting and assisting with practice and travel planning and scouting.
After redshirting as a freshman, Lozano played three seasons for the Nittany Lions from 2007-09, totaling 48 goals and 36 assists in 47 career games.
Lozano excelled as a junior in 2009, leading Penn State in assists (24) and points (44). She earned American Lacrosse Conference All-Tournament honors that season after scoring seven points (3g,4a) in a semifinal victory over Ohio State that propelled PSU to its first-ever ALC title game.
Lozano spent the 2010 season as team captain and undergraduate assistant coach after sustaining a season-ending injury. In May 2010, she was awarded PSU's Diane Whipple Award given to the player who "displays a competitive passion for the game, and whose work ethic demonstrates the desire and determination to achieve success."
Aside from her playing career at PSU, Lozano has served as assistant coach of Pittsburgh's Intrepid Lacrosse club and as coach and counselor of PSU's Lacrosse Camp. She graduated from Penn State with a bachelor's degree in communication arts and sciences and a minor in business in 2010.
