In his second season at the helm the Colonials 2nd Varsity 8 captured the silver medal at the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic/New England (MANE) Regional Rowing Championships. GW also finished in second place in the inaugural George's Trophy against local rivals Georgetown and George Mason. In his first season Carcich led the Colonials 2nd Varsity 8 to the bronze medal at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Under his direction, all four of GW's entries qualified for the Grand Finals at the Championship Regatta. After taking over the program the Colonials moved up the Eastern Sprint ladder from 18th to 15th at in his first season. Additionally, the Colonials JV8 advanced to the petite final and finished in 11th-place at the highly comeptitive Eastern Sprint Championships. Carcich is responsible for all aspects of the Colonials women's rowing program, which opens the 2010-11 season on Sept. 26 at the Head of the Potomac in Washington, DC.
Carcich came to GW from the University of Pennsylvania where he has served as the assistant coach for the heavyweight men for three seasons. A 1996 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Carcich also was the head rowing coach at his alma mater from 1997-99. While in Amherst, his varsity lightweight eight team captured silver medals at the 1998 New England Championship. In his first year of coaching he saw the lightweight eight take the gold medal in the New England Championships and the Champion Regatta, while the heavyweight eight won the bronze at the New England Championships. Carcich also coached at Yale University from 1999-06 as an assistant lightweight men's rowing coach. While in New Haven, Carcich led the Bulldogs freshman squad to seven medals at the Eastern Sprints during his six years in the program. While at Yale, he guided the Bulldogs to the 2002 Eastern Sprint Freshmen Lightweight gold medal, as well as the silver medal in 2001 and the bronze medals in 2000 and 2003. He also served as the head coach of the men's and women's teams at the New Haven Rowing Club. The group numbered 75-100 members who rowed both recreationally and competitively.
