Stephanie Chivers is in her fifth season as assistant coach for women's rowing at The George Washington University.
Chivers is responsible for coaching the novice rowers and plays active role in recruiting for the program.
Chivers arrived GW after spending two years as the assistant coach of women's rowing at Nova Southeastern University, a Division II program in located Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she worked with the novice boats.
Chivers brings a wide array of coaching experience to the Colonials' staff. She served as assistant men's rowing coach at her alma mater, the University of Connecticut, in 2006. She also has interned with the San Diego State women's rowing squad in 2007 and served as a Graduate Assistant with the Ithaca College women's rowing team. During the course of her rowing career, Chivers also has coached masters and high school programs at Berkshire Rowing and Sculling Society in Pittsfield, MA, the San Diego Rowing Club and in Hartford, CT.
As a student-athlete, Chivers had a distinguished career as a four-year rower at Connecticut and captained the Huskies her senior year. She earned academic honors all four years of her collegiate career, including a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete award in 2004. A 2007 graduate from UConn, she earned a master's degree from Ithaca College in 2008.
