GW Women's Rowing Races in Spring Debut
Varsity 8 Takes Second Place Versus Penn & Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA - The George Washington women's rowing team opened its spring season with a series of four races against Penn and Saint Joseph's on the Schuylkill River on Saturday afternoon.
Race conditions featured a very strong headwind of 15-18 mph which created rolling swells and significant chop.
The first race of the afternoon was the Varsity 8, where the Colonials finished in second place, navigating the 2,000-meter course in 7:19.73, behind Penn (7:01.30) and ahead of Saint Joseph's (7:31.75).
The Colonials finished in third place in the JV8 in 7:30.20.
In the Varsity 4, Penn had two boats finish in first and second place, finishing in 7:45.00 and 7:46.59, respectively. The Colonials followed in third place in 8:11.80, ahead of Saint Joseph's (8:36.64).
GW's 3V8 finished in fourth place (7:38.77).
The Colonials travel back north once again next weekend to compete in the annual Murphy Cup Regatta on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. on Saturday.
