Oct. 22, 2008
BOSTON, MA - George Washington Women's Rowing competed in the 2008 Head of the Charles Regatta Sunday on the Charles River in Boston, MA. The Colonials varsity four finished 12th in the Championship Women's Four event. Starting 21st in the 22 boat field, GW was able to successfully navigate the three-mile course's bridges and turns, passing one crew along the way. The team finished sixth among collegiate crews. "This was our first race of the year so we were excited to see how we would place in the field," GW head coach Rob McCracken said. "We're really pleased with the way our women rowed. Our main goal coming into the race was to row a really strong, competitive race from start to finish and I think we accomplished that." The GW crew consisted of coxswain Zoe Calish (Dorchester, MA), Bess Austin (Madison, WI), Kirsten Spittel (Pittsburgh, PA), Bonnie Scott (Plainview, NY) and Stephanie DeFlora (Basking Ridge, NJ). Next up for the Colonials is the Princeton Chase in Princeton, NJ on Sunday, October 26. Womens' Championship Four 1. Roforeningen Kvik
