Women's Rowing Aims for A-10 Championship on Saturday

ON THE LINE: The George Washington women's rowing team takes to the Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey, on Saturday to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
AT STAKE: GW is in search of its first Atlantic 10 title after recording seven second-place finishes between 1996 and 2012. The winner of the A-10 Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Rowing Championship, May 26-28, on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.
CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: While the Colonials have yet to win the overall team title, GW has totaled 22 first-place finishes in the finals over its 21 seasons in the conference, including Varsity 8 Championships in 2013, 2006 and 2001.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT: Morning heats will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with two heats each for the Varsity 8 (8:00, 8:10), JV8 (8:20, 8:30) and Varsity 4 (8:40, 8:50).
The top three crews from each heat will advance to the Grand Final, with the remaining boats going to the Petite Final, where a points system will be used to determine the final standings.
The Petite and Grand Finals will launch at approximately 10:20 a.m.
LAST YEAR AT A-10s: GW sent all four boats to the Grand Finals en route to tying for fifth place overall in the A-10 Championships last May on the Occoquan River.
