GW Women's Rowing Lands Three on Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team
Kaminski and Pickus Selected to First Team After Gold-Medal Performance at A-10 Championship
May 6, 2013
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Three George Washington women's rowing student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Senior Anna Kaminski and junior Sarah Pickus were both named to the first team while junior Bethany Grim garnered second team honors.
Kaminski, Pickus and Grim all row in GW's Varsity 8 boat, which won a gold medal at last Saturday's Atlantic 10 Championship. The trio helped GW to the fastest time among nine crews in the morning heat, before leading wire-to-wire in the Grand Finals to help the Colonials win their third gold medal in program history and first since 2006.
The varsity crew also notched a gold medal at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships earlier this season and posted victories in the George's Cup and 1998 Cup for the second season in a row.
Kaminski has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team in each of the past three seasons while Grim earns her second consecutive second-team selection. Monday's honor marks the first career conference recognition for Grim.
