May 10, 2012
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Four George Washington women's rowing student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, the league announced on Thursday. Senior Maryann Grunseth and junior Anna Kaminski were both named to the first team while sophomores Bethany Grim and Megan Culberson garnered second team honors. Both Kaminski and Grunseth row in the GW's Varsity 8 boat, which is enjoying its most successful season in recent memory. The duo has helped the Colonials to George's Trophy, the Class of 1998 Cup, the Howard Wilkins Bowl at the GW Invitational and a second-place finish at last week's Atlantic 10 Championship, the Colonials' best finish at the event since the 2003 season. Kaminski, who rows from the No 4 seat, earns first-team honors for the second consecutive season. The Seattle, Wash., native was also named the Colonials' Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row at the Annual Senior Honors Luncheon. Grunseth, rowing from the No. 3 seat, earns her first career All-Conference honor. Culberson, from the No. 7 seat, and Grim, from the No. 6 seat, have both contributed to the Colonials' Varsity 8 and GW's overall success this season. The Colonials return to the Cooper River in Pennsauaken, N.J., on Saturday for the Eastern Sprints. 2012 Atlantic 10 Rowing All-Conference First Team
