WASHINGTON, DC - On Sunday, May 13, George Washington Women's Rowing will compete in the 34th Annual EAWRC Sprints Regatta held in Camden, NJ. The regatta features teams from the Mid-Atlantic and New England including five teams ranked in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing Top 20.
The Varsity Eight crew of Mansi Shah, Angela Wunderli, Bess Austin, Angela Costales, Liz Gordon, Kate Austin, Laura Crotty, Jenna Feistritzer and Hilary Goldberg look to improve on their performance from the Atlantic 10 Championship. They will be joined by GW's Varsity Four crew of Gina Fernandes, Brandi Kerrigan, Ashley Larrimore, Emily Geise and Bonnie Scott. Both crews hope to earn a spot in the petite final against some fast competition.
"We have had a great week of practice and all of the crews are working hard to come together," said head coach Rob McCracken. "The team has done a great job managing the stresses of exams as they prepare for their season ending regatta. Our goal this weekend is to row a solid race from start to finish. If we execute properly, I think we have the potential to surprise a few people."
The Colonials Novice Eight of Katie Martin, Victoria Koke, Rhonda Crittle, Ellen VanCleave, Allison Miedema, Sasha Frankel, Carrie Rollman, Stephanie DeFlora and Kate Williamson will also take to the line for the final time this weekend. "I hope this group can relax a bit and enjoy their races this weekend," said GW women's assistant coach Sarah Dondero. "They have been working hard the past two weeks so if they can stay calm, they should have some good results."
