Kate Austin Named CRCA Second Team All-Region
May 22, 2007 WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Kate Austin (Madison, WI/Madison West) was named to the CRCA (Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association) Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team, it was announced Tuesday. Austin, also a great student, was one of seven Colonials to also recieve CRCA Scholar-Athlete Accolades this season, which was also announced Tuesday. Austin was instrumental in helping the Colonials regain the class of 1998 Cup, which is an annual head-to-head battle with crosstown rival, Georgetown. In addition, she led GW to a fifth place finish, from the four-seat in the Varsity Eight, at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The Madison, WI, resident, has been a stalwart for GW's program all of her four years with the team. In 2006, Austin led the Colonials to the Atlantic 10 championship in the Varsity Eight and was named Academic All-Conference. In addition to her conference success, Kate also enjoyed several national accolades including being a CRCA Second Team All-American selection. Mid Atlantic Region
