Neel Bhattacharjee is in his first season as assistant coach for women's soccer at The George Washington University. Bhattacharjee (pronounced "BAT-uh-CHARGE-ee") will be primarily responsible for goalkeeper instruction as well as team training, recruiting, and other administrative aspects for the Colonials women's soccer program.
He spent the past year as a USA goalkeeping staff coach for the Under-21 Women's National Team during their trip to England and Scotland. He also spent the past year as an assistant coach for Xavier College Preparatory girls team in Phoenix, AZ. Additionally, while in Phoenix, he worked with the AriZona Futbol Club and the Arizona girls Olympic Development Program as the head goalkeeper trainer for the past three years. Neel currently holds a USSF "C" License and Goalkeeper License.
The Randolph, NJ, native earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Maryland in 1998 and earned a master's degree from Texas State University in 2000. He also has been pursuing a Ph.D. in geography at Arizona State University. He played goalkeeper for club soccer teams at both Maryland and ASU.
Bhattacharjee and his wife, Merry, were married on December 31, 2005. He resides in Washington, DC.
