Michael Butler is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach and will help with the technical and tactical development of the team.

Butler has previous coaching experience as a volunteer men's assistant coach at SUNY Purchase and with American International College as the women's first assistant coach in 1999. While at AIC, the coaching staff was recognized with Coach of the Year honors for the team's first and only berth to the conference championships.

In 1999, the Columbus Crew drafted Butler in the first round of the MLS Draft. He also played professionally for the NY Metro Stars (MLS) and for various teams in the A-league, as well as for second division polish club Lechia Dansk.

He currently is the Director of Operations for 5 Star Soccer Academy, located in Long Island, NY, managing and organizing elite youth soccer programs as well as a staff coach for the Region 7 ODP program and the LI United Liverpool Academy Youth program.

An exercise science graduate of University of Massachusetts, Butler earned NSCAA All- American honors and was inducted into the Springfield, MA, High School Sports Hall of Fame for his honor as an Umbro High School All- American.

Butler holds a USSF B Coaching license, NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma and NSCAA National Youth Diploma and resides in Arlington, VA.
