WASHINGTON, DC - Cara Cadigan earned her first goal as a Colonial when she shot the ball past Mount St. Mary's diving goalkeeper, two minutes into overtime to win the game 1-0 on Sunday, at Mount Vernon Field.

Freshman Melanie Keer was able to get the pass off to Cadigan, as she was trying to dribble by a defender. Cadigan joined the Colonials in 2010 after scoring 25 goals in three seasons with Division III Tufts.

GW improves to 2-2-0 on the season, sweeping both home games this weekend. MSM falls to 1-2-1 on the season.

The contest could have been very different as MSM had two goals taken away on off-side calls early in the second half. Both teams took four shots on goal in the physical game.

GW heads on the road to take on Loyola (MD) in Baltimore on Friday, Sept 10, at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Mount Vernon Field to take on DC-rival American on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4:00 p.m.
