BALTIMORE, MD - GW sophomore Taryn Dietrich beat the UMBC goalkeeper one-on-one to tie the match,1-1, just a few seconds into the second half for her first goal of the season. This match was the third in four games the Colonials took the game into double overtime and the team's second tie of the season.

UMBC (0-4-1) got on the board in the first half off a header from Katie Gitlin just to the left of GW (2-3-2) goalkeeper Bridget Mahon. Gitlin's goal came off a corner kick from teammate Aly Gazarek.

Mahon and the Colonial defense kept the Retrievers to only four shots for the next 65 minutes, after their goal in the first half.

GW's defense held UMBC's forwards to seven shots, with four on goal while GW powered 11 of 14 shots on goal. The Colonials also earned more corners, 10-6.

The Colonials return to Mount Vernon Field to host American University on Tues., Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. before beginning the Atlantic 10 portion of the 2009 schedule on the road against Xavier, Friday, Sept. 25.
