Box Score

DAYTON, OH - Dayton took an early lead within the first five minutes of an Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer match and never looked back, cruising past George Washington, 5-1, Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field.

The Flyers, who improved to 8-3-0, 2-1-0 in the A-10, were led by sophomore Mandi Bäck, who recorded three goals on the day. The Colonials fall to 5-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in league play.

Dayton began the day's scoring less than five minutes into the action, with Bäck volleying a perfect pass from teammate Kelly Blumenschein for her first goal.

Bäck added her second goal in the 20th minute and a Kristen Persichini header from 12-yards out (31') made it 3-0 in favor of the host team.

GW cut into the lead momentarily right before halftime, as sophomore Brittany Eger (Sykesville, MD/Century) chipped the ball over the keeper's head from 18-yards out in the 39th minute to put the Colonials on the board, 3-1. It was Eger's first goal of the season and the second of her career.

After the intermission, the score remained 3-1 for most of the second half, but in the 71st minute, Bäck recorded her hat trick, and then Lauren MacCormick made it 5-1 in the 76th minute with a shot from eight yards out.

The loss, GW's second in a row and their fifth consecutive in the A-10 dating back to last season, dropped their record to 3-10-0 all-time versus Dayton.

George Washington plays host to Duquesne (4-4-0, 1-1-0) on Friday, October 5th, at 3:00 p.m., as they will look to earn their first A-10 victory of the season.
