Final Stats

WASHINGTON, DC - In a game completely controlled by a torrential rainstorm, the George Washington University soccer team (4-6-0, 1-1-0 A-10) fell to the defending Atlantic 10 Champion University of Dayton (7-3-2, 3-1-0) 1-0 Friday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.

Flyers' sophomore Kristen Persichini's long pass from midfield found senior Reba Sedlacek 10-yards in front of the Colonials' goal and the conference's reigning Player of the Year dribbled in for the game's only score (5) in the 29th minute.

The game-winner was Sedlacek's third of the year.

The heavy rains saturated the playing field and limited both team's offenses as GW could only muster three shots on goal.

Eight different Dayton players recorded a shot with four at GW goalkeeper Anna Handzlik (Palos Verdes, CA/Palos Verdes Peninsula), who made three saves in the match.

Dayton goalie Niki Reed stopped two shots for her third shutout of the year.

The Colonials return to action Sunday when they face Xavier at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. Game time is 12:00 PM.
