Women's Soccer Win Streak Snapped in 1-0 Loss at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC - The George Washington women's soccer team's seven game win streak was snapped on Friday night in the 1-0 loss at Transamerica Field in the second half against Charlotte when the 49ers' Whitney Weinwrab scored her fifth goal of the season. Charlotte improves to 11-4-0 on the season and 4-1-0 in Atlantic 10 play with the win, while the GW falls to 9-4-0, 3-1-0. Charlotte's Weinwrab netted the game-winner in the 47th minute off a short cross from Macky Wingo. Senior Bridget Mahon allowed her first goal of the season after posting a brick wall in 238:46 minutes of play. Mahon made six of her eight total saves in the second half. The 49ers held the Colonials offense to only four shots, with three on goal. Clare Roche and Alex Neal posted shots in the first half while Claire Haft and Samie Cloutier took theirs in the second half. GW continues on the road this weekend, traveling to Missouri to take on Saint Louis on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2:00 p.m. EST at the Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The Billikins headed into the weekend with a 2-7-5 season record, 1-3-0 in A-10 play and a Friday night match up against Richmond.
