DAYTON -- The George Washington women's soccer squad notched their tenth victory of the season when they dropped Dayton, 1-0, at Baujan Field on Sunday evening. The Colonials improve to 10-4-2 and 5-2-1 in A-10 play and hand the Flyers (7-8-2, 2-4-2 A10) only their second loss on home turf in 2017.

Junior Sofia Pavon put the Buff and Blue out front with a goal in the 64th minute. The defense did the rest, holding strong as Dayton pressured late in search of the equalizer.


  • 64th Minute -- Pavon broke the deadlock when she took a pass from fellow junior Mia Barreda and shot the ball from 90 feet into the upper right corner of the net.


  • With five saves on the night, redshirt senior goalkeeper Miranda Horn is only four saves away from reaching the 300 career saves milestone.

  • Sophomore Sheila Albertson made her first career start in tonight's matchup.

  • With tonight's win, the Colonials notch their 10th victory of the season and post double digits in the win column for the 15th time in program history.

  • The Buff and Blue found the back of the net before their opponent for the 10th time this season and improve to 8-1-1 when scoring first.

    The Colonials will hit the road for the last time in the regular season on Thursday, October 19 when they travel to take on the Davidson Wildcats for a 7 p.m. bout. The squad will then close out its conference schedule at home on Sunday, October 22 against Duquesne for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
