DAVIDSON, NC – The George Washington women’s soccer squad played Davidson to a 0-0 double overtime draw on Thursday evening at Alumni Stadium in the Colonials’ final road trip of the 2017 regular season.

GW (10-4-3, 5-2-2 A-10) held a 9-6 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks but could not find the back of the net in 110 minutes of play.

The squads battled for possession in the first half, logging just three total shots and forcing one save from each goalkeeper to keep the match scoreless at intermission.

The Colonials began to apply more pressure in the second half, holding a 4-1 shot advantage, but could not get the ball past the Wildcats’ goalkeeper, pushing the match to overtime.

Both teams had their best look in the second overtime period. Miranda Horn made a big save in the 105th minute when Alexis Dav Pheng shot the ball and Horn tipped it just wide of the cage to keep the score even at zero. Three minutes later, Sheila Albertson nearly found the back of the net, but the ball hit the post and went out of play.

  • With her ninth shutout of the season, Horn matches her single-season career high and turns in her 30th career clean sheet. The Hamilton, Ontario, native became GW’s all-time career shutouts leader on Sunday at Dayton.

  • Senior forward Brittany Cooper led the Colonials with four shots on net and has recorded a total 51 shots this season.

  • Horn tallied two saves between the pipes and is now just two saves away from reaching the 300 career saves milestone.

  • With tonight’s draw, GW sits in a three-way tie in the Atlantic 10 for fourth place with VCU and George Mason leading into the last regular season matchups on Sunday.

The Colonials close out their conference schedule at home on Sunday when they host Duquesne for Senior Day at 1 p.m. GW will honor Miranda Horn and Brittany Cooper in a Senior Day ceremony at 12:45 p.m. before kickoff.
