Women's Soccer Wins With 1-0 Shutout Over Temple

Oct. 20, 2002

Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Colonials were lifted to victory by a late goal from superstar Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's). GW (7-7) returns to the .500 mark with the win and has an impressive 4-3 record in the Atlantic 10 conference. Warner continues to produce at an amazing rate, leading the Colonials with the only goal of the contest and her league-leading 12th of the year.

Warner's goal came in the 84th minute after a lob shot from the top of the goalie box. The unassisted goal proved the difference in a close 1-0 Colonials victory. Freshman standout Kelly Paolucci (Lanham, MD/Good Counsel) recorded her second shutout of the season while making six saves in her fifth victory. While the Colonials were outshot by the Owls 15-9, Warner's goal decided the contest just minutes before the final whistle.

The Colonials have come alive posting two strong victories in Philadelphia this weekend. GW returns home for their next two matches which will be critical for their postseason hopes. Both contests will be contested at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex as the Colonials host their final two home matches of the year. GW takes on Fordham at 3:00 PM on Friday and La Salle at 1:00pm on Sunday.
