Saint Louis Shuts Out Women's Soccer, 2-0

ST. LOUIS, MO - Two first half goals from Saint Louis University (12-4-0, 7-0-0 A-10) sent the George Washington University women's soccer team (5-11-0, 2-6-0 A-10) to a 2-0 Atlantic 10 Conference defeat Friday night at the Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens scored the game's first goal, the eventual game-winner, just 3:36 into the match when sophomore Mary Green converted a pass from senior Kelly Ferguson for a score - her first goal of the year.

In the game's 26th minute, Ferguson scored a goal on a header with the assist from junior Courtney Hulcer for a 2-0 SLU advantage.

Billikens' goalkeeper Abby Goellner record two saves to earn her third shutout of the year.

Senior Anna Handzlik (Palos Verdes, CA/Palos Verdes Peninsula) got the start in net for the Colonials and made five saves in the loss.

GW took just four shots all game with two coming from junior Shari Taylor (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop McNamara).

The Colonials conclude its 2005 campaign Sunday when the team travels to Pittsburgh, PA, to face Duquesne University. Game time is 1:00 PM.
