Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington University (6-7-5, 4-3-3 A-10) senior Kelly Lawten's (New Canaan, CT, New Canaan) goal in the 84th minute broke a scoreless tie and gave the Colonials a 1-0 Atlantic 10 victory Friday afternoon over the Owls (4-13-1, 1-8-1 A-10) at Temple Stadium, keeping GW alive in the hunt for a conference tournament spot with one regular season game remaining.

The goal was Lawten's second of the season.

Colonials' goalie Anna Handzlik (Palos Verdes, CA / Palos Verdes Peninsula) stepped up huge in a must win game for GW, rejecting eight shots and earning her fourth shutout of the season.

GW's final regular season match is Sunday at St. Joseph's University. Game time is 1:00 p.m.

In order to secure a place in the tournament, the Colonials need to defeat the Hawks and have both UMass and Xavier lose its games on Sunday.
