PHILADELPHIA, PA - Senior Keara Mehlert had a hand in two of George Washington's three goals to help the Colonials women's soccer team to a 3-2 league victory at Saint Joseph's Friday evening.

Mehlert had a goal and an assist to help GW snap a three-match losing skid and improve to 8-10-0 overall - 4-6-0 in the Atlantic 10 - on the season. The Colonials wrap their 2008 season Sunday at conference rival Temple at 1:00 pm.

Junior Brittany Eger gave GW an early lead in the 12th minute, heading in a cross from inside the 18-yard box from Mehlert. Saint Joseph's (7-7-4, 2-4-4 A-10) answered less than four minutes later at the 15:00 mark on Sarah O'Malley's penalty-kick conversion.

Mehlert gave the Colonials a 2-1 advantage in the 31st minute, taking an assist from senior Meg Pyle and driving a shot past SJU goalkeeper Megan Bastianelli from the top right corner of the box.

Saint Joseph's once again drew even in the 57th minute as Jen Pfeiffer took Lauren Sawyer's pass off a turnover and sent a shot to the upper left corner.

Sophomore Kristen Slack got the game-winning goal in the 75th minute, heading in a skipping crossing pass from senior Meg Pyle past a charging Bastianelli. The three points move Mehlert into the team lead with 11 points on four goals and three assists this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe made four saves to increase her Atlantic 10-leading total to 99 this season. Bastianelli made three saves as the Hawks outshot the Colonials 17-12 in the match.
