Sarah Barnes Resigns as GW Women's Soccer Head Coach

Feb. 27, 2018

WASHINGTON - Sarah Barnes has resigned as head coach of the George Washington women's soccer team.

"Since taking the reigns of the program in 2012, Sarah has guided GW women's soccer to be among the top programs in the region and Atlantic 10 Conference," said Acting Director of Athletics and Recreation Tanya Vogel. "We're grateful to her and her staff for mentoring our student-athletes and significantly impacting their experience as Colonials. As we wish Sarah luck at Miami, we also look forward to the next chapter of excellence at GW.”

With Barnes at the helm, the Colonials enjoyed a pinnacle season in 2015. The 2015 A-10 Coach of the Year saw the Colonials complete an unblemished season in conference play at 10-0-0 and finish 15-5. In the last two season GW finished a combined 9-5-6 in Atlantic 10 action.

A search for GW's next head women's soccer coach will begin immediately.
