Atlantic 10 Names 2008 Preseason Women's Soccer All-Conference Team

Smidinger named to A-10 All-Rookie Team

Washington D.C.-George Washington incoming freshman Sierra Smidinger has been named to the Atlantic 10's Preseason Women's Soccer all-rookie team. Smidinger is one of six recruits joining the Colonials roster for 2008.

Smidinger, a 5-5 forward from Crofton, MD, was a two-year team captain and four-time first team all-county performer at Arundel High School. Smidinger scored nine goals and had 12 assists to earn honorable mention All-Met from the Washington Post and help the Wildcats to a county championship appearance as a senior in 2007. Smidinger also was an honorable mention all-state selection as a sophomore in 2005.

Also a standout student, Smidinger was a member of the National Honor Society and an honorable mention Maryland Distinguished Scholar. She received the State of Maryland Merit Scholastic Award and the STEM Student Excellence Award.
