WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University women's soccer player Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) was named to the Atlantic 10 preseason All-Conference Team the conference has announced. The 2002 Offensive Player of the Year is joined by Colonials newcomer Sarah Sample (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) who was named to the All-Rookie Team.

Warner led the Colonials and the Atlantic 10 in goals last season with 15. The senior also had three assists finishing the year with 33 points. Warner ranks third at GW in career goals with 28 and points with 64. She needs 33 points to move into second place among Colonials women's soccer players.

From nearby Annapolis, MD, Sample is one of the area's top girl's soccer players and is a member of the Olympic Development Team. Playing for the St. Mary's Saints, she helped her high school secure their its consecutive Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A conference championship this year. The incoming freshman was a national pool player for the U-16 team.

The Colonials enjoyed their most successful season in 2002 under coach Tanya Vogel. GW posted a 10-9 record and advanced to the Atlantic 10 postseason for the first time since 1998. GW opens the 2003 season at Toledo on August 31 at noon.
