WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington junior Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) has been selected to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference team, while freshman Ina Kain (Irvine, CA/Woodbridge) has been named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Rookie team in a vote conducted among Atlantic 10 head coaches, the conference office announced.

Warner, the 2001 team MVP, was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference second team and All-Mid-Atlantic Region third team last season. She led the Colonials in goals scored (8), assists (4), points (20), shots (45) and gamewinning goals (3). Warner's 20 points ranked her third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring and her nine points during conference play ranked her 10th in conference scoring. The talented forward kept opposing defenses on their heels all season long as her speed and skill proved too much for many of them.

Kain, a natural center midfielder, was a member of the U-15 Olympic Development Program National Team in 1999. In subsequent years she was a member of the Regional team as well as a participant in the U.S. National All-Star Team International Competition (Texas, 2000). She is a standout player for the Southern California Blues Soccer Club, helping them to capture one U.S. National Championship (Florida, 2000), back-to-back U.S. Western Regional Championships (2001 & 2000), back-to-back Cal-South State Championships (2001 & 2000), back-to-back Premier Coast Soccer League Championships (2000 & 1999) and many strong tournament performances including Surf Cup U-18 finalists in 2001.

The Colonials finished the 2001 season with an overall record of 8-10 and an Atlantic 10 record of 5-6. This season, Warner will lead the team of 14 returning players and five outstanding freshmen as GW strives to move up the A-10 ladder.
