Junior Kyla Ridley scored two game-winning goals this weekend at home to help the GW women's soccer team open its campaign with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2007.

In GW's 6-0 season-opening triumph over Mount St. Mary's on Friday, Ridley took the first two shots of the match, connecting on the second just over six minutes into action. She collected a through ball from classmate Kristi Abbate, dodged a defender and buried a shot in the lower right corner of the net to put the Colonials up, 1-0, over the Mount. On Sunday against Old Dominion, Ridley scored the golden goal in overtime after the squad's saw a scoreless draw through regulation. Less than two minutes into the extra period, Ridley settled a pass from junior Brooke Bean, found her way through three Monarch defenders and fired a shot that dipped just inside the left post to lift the Colonials to their second straight shutout victory.

In addition to being named Colonial of the Week, Ridley was also tabbed College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.
