WASHINGTON, DC -- GW women's soccer freshman defender Melanie Keer was named Co-Rookie of the Week by the Atlantic 10 Conference Monday, after helping the Colonials post two shutouts over the past weekend. Saint Joseph's Mo Hawkins was also named Co-Rookie of the Week.

In Sunday's match against Mount St. Mary's, Keer started the overtime period as a forward and pushed the ball up the field. Facing a tough Mount defender, she was able to get a pass off to Cara Cadigan to score the game-winner.

The Doyletown, Pa. native led the Colonials back line allowing the opposition just nine shots including five on goal in two matches en route to a pair of 1-0 victories.

GW heads on the road to take on Loyola (MD) in Baltimore on Friday, Sept 10, at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Mount Vernon Field to take on DC-rival American on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4:00 p.m.
