WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's soccer freshman Alex Neal was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after a strong performance in three games last week and at the Blue Hen Classic, the conference announced.

The Lake Villa, Ill., native found a great time to score her first collegiate goal as she put away a rebound in the 87th minute of play for the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Delaware. She was also named to the Blue Hen Classic All-Tournament team with three GW teammates.

Neal provided a lift defensively for the Colonials, appearing in all three of the past week's victories, working with her teammates to hold each opponent to only one goal.

GW (5-3-0) next plays this Friday, Sept., 24 at 4:00 p.m. against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs (6-2-1) at GW's Mount Vernon Field, 2100 Foxhall Rd., in northwest Washington.
