Colonials Wrap Non-Conference Home Competition Against Greyhounds
Sept. 23, 2013
WASHINGTON - Coming off a four-game road swing, the George Washington women's soccer team returns home to the GW Soccer Field to host Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Kickoff at the Mount Vernon Campus is slated for 4 p.m.
GW (2-2-2) settled for a 0-0 double overtime draw at Mount St. Mary's on Friday despite registering a season-high 19 shots and limiting the Mount to eight attempts. Seniors Alex Neal and Jane Wallis and sophomore Kristi Abbate registered four shots apiece in the contest, forcing Mount St. Mary's goalkeeper to make seven saves on the day. Senior goalie Nicole Ulrik made four stops in 110 minutes of work, including three saves in the first half.
Loyola (1-6-1) comes to GW on a four-match skid, most recently falling to Holy Cross, 1-0, on Saturday on a last-minute goal by the Crusaders. The Greyhounds have played through four overtime contests this season, dropping three of those matches and tying UMBC, 1-1. The Greyhounds are paced by sophomore Charlotte Miller with two goals, while redshirt senior Katelyn McFadden has recorded a goal and an assist.
GW leads the all-time series with Loyola, 2-1-0, with the most recent meeting coming in 2010 following a 13-year hiatus.
