Women Soccer's Ina Kain Named A-10 Co-Player of the Week

Sept. 27, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's soccer player Ina Kain (Irvine, CA / Woodbridge) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

In the Colonials' first conference match of the season Saturday, Kain scored two goals in leading GW over the University of Richmond, 2-1. The Colonials had fallen behind 1-0 in the first half, but Kain tied the contest after converting a penalty kick. She scored the eventual winning goal early in the second half to lift GW to the 2-1 victory.

The goals were Kain's first two of the season.

Kain also notched an assist in the Colonials' 3-2 loss to George Mason on Wednesday.

For the week, the junior tallied five points and now leads the team in assists (3), and is second in points (7) and goals (2).

Kain shares the A-10 honor with Duquesne's senior forward Katie Schwager.

The Colonials (3-3-2, 1-0 A-10) host American University at 3:00 pm on Tuesday at GW's Mount Vernon Field located at 2100 Foxhall Rd., northwest Washington.
