PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Sophomore Claire Haft's goal just 1:27 into overtime lifted the George Washington women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Duquesne Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field. It was the Colonials' first Atlantic 10 win of the 2011 season as well as their second shutout in as many games as they improve to 4-7-1 and 1-0-1 in conference play, while the Dukes fall to 2-8-1, 1-1-0 A-10.

Haft took a game-high six shots, and on her final attempt she picked up her first goal of the year. The second-year forward received a pass from the midfield and worked herself open before sending a shot from the right side of the field over Duquesne goalkeeper Devon Tabata's left shoulder.

"My hat goes off to this team," said head coach Tanya Vogel. "They really battled and gave themselves up for the win and we couldn't be happier."

GW fired off 11 shots throughout the contest, forcing Tabata to make seven saves, including five in the second half. The Colonials also tallied three first-half corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe made six stops on the day to notch her second straight shutout.

"Lindsey did fantastic and we are so happy with her efforts," Vogel said. She has really stepped up lately and showed opponents what she can do.

The Colonials continue their five-game road stand at Saint Joseph's on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. Fans can follow the contest with the Hawks via live stats here
