NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Washington women's soccer senior goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, after helping the Colonials post back-to-back shutouts on the road to open Atlantic 10 play this past weekend.

Rowe helped GW earn four points - good for a second-place tie in the league standings - as she totaled 14 saves in a pair of overtime contests. It marks the third time in her four-year career that Rowe has earned the conference accolade.

“Lindsey did a fantastic job this weekend and we couldn’t be happier with her efforts,” said head coach Tanya Vogel. “She is selfless and is constantly thinking about team goals, and I think she will definitely use this as momentum to work hard for the girls from here on out.”

On Friday, Rowe and her teammates held their opponent scoreless for the first time this season in a 0-0 double-overtime draw at St. Bonaventure. She made nine stops against the Bonnies in the second match of a five-game road swing for the Colonials.

On Sunday, GW notched its first A-10 victory of the season with a 1-0 overtime win at Duquesne behind Rowe's six saves.  Rowe and the Colonials' defense kept the Dukes scoreless through regulation and sophomore Claire Haft netted the golden goal 87 seconds into overtime to secure the three points.

GW (4-7-1, 1-0-1 A-10) returns to action Friday, Oct. 7 in Philadelphia for a 7 p.m., match at conference foe Saint Joseph’s (5-4-3, 0-1-1 A-10).  Fans can follow the contest with the Hawks via live stats here
