Oct. 6, 2008
PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington senior women's soccer player Erica Wright was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Wright tallied a pair of game-winning goals last weekend to help the Colonials to their first league victories of the season. Wright scored the deciding goals in Friday's 2-0 victory over Massachusetts and Sunday's 1-0 triumph against Rhode Island to help GW even its conference record at 2-2-0. Wright leads GW with nine points on three goals and three assists this season. Senior Lauren Kelly assisted both of Wright's game-winners and had three assists last weekend to increase her team-leading total to five. Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe posted her third and fourth shutouts of the season and leads the A-10 with 69 total saves. With seven league matches remaining, the Colonials currently sit in seventh place in the A-10 standings with six points. The top six teams in the league standings qualify for the A-10 Championship, which will be held at Saint Louis' Hermann Stadium Nov. 6-8. GW (6-6-0) travel for conference matches at St. Bonaventure and Duquesne this weekend. The Colonials face the Bonnies Friday at 1:00 pm and the Dukes Sunday at 12:00 pm.
