Rowe Named A-10 Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Oct. 13, 2008
PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington freshman women's soccer goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe was named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday. Rowe made nine saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season in GW's 4-0 rout at Duquesne Sunday. Rowe's nine stops against the Dukes Sunday helped the Colonials to their most one-sided conference victory in six seasons and marked the fourth time she has posted nine-or-more saves in a match this season. Rowe also added three saves in a 2-0 loss at St. Bonaventure on Friday. Rowe leads the conference in total saves (81) and saves per game (5.79) and is tied for second in the league with five shutouts. Her five shutouts mark the most for a GW freshman goalkeeper since 1987. GW (7-7-0, 3-3-0 A-10) is in a three-way tie with Richmond and St. Bonaventure for sixth place in the A-10 standings with nine points. The top six teams in the final standings qualify for the A-10 Championship, hosted by Saint Louis, Nov. 6-9. The Colonials host Saint Louis Friday at 3:00 pm and league-leader Charlotte Sunday at 12:00 pm at Mount Vernon Field.
