Women’s Soccer Clinches No. 5 Seed at A-10 Championship

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women’s soccer team has claimed the No. 5 seed at the upcoming 2017 Atlantic 10 championship hosted by VCU.

The Buff and Blue (10-4-4, 5-2-3 A-10) earn a berth in the postseason tournament for the fifth consecutive season under head coach Sarah Barnes. The eight-team championship begins on the campuses of the top four seeds, then heads to VCU’s Sports Backers Stadium for the semifinals and finals, Nov. 3-5.

La Salle (14-3-2, 9-0-1 A-10) claimed the regular-season title after posting an undefeated A-10 season. Saint Louis (15-2-2, 7-2-1 A-10) finished second in the league standings, followed by George Mason (9-8-2, 6-2-2 A-10), and Duquesne (10-5-3, 6-3-1 A-10). The Colonials finished ahead of Saint Joseph’s (10-5-3, 5-3-2 A-10), VCU (9-5-3, 5-3-2 A-10), and Dayton (9-8-2, 4-4-2 A-10).

The Colonials will travel to Pittsburgh to take on fourth-seeded Duquesne at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
