WASHINGTON, DC -- GW women's soccer senior Brittany Eger was named to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 2 First Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The District 2 University Division consists of all NCAA Division I college and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and starter or significant reserve for her team.

The midfielder from Sykesville, MD, is currently tied atop the team with four goals scored going into the last weekend of the season. She most recently scored the game-winner on Senior Day against Duquesne, Oct. 25. Eger helped the Colonials open the season with a 2-1 win over Towson, scoring two goals, narrowly missing a third.

In four seasons at GW, Eger has started 45 matches and appeared in 69 matches. She doubled her career scoring this season with seven career goals for 19 points on 49 career shots.

In the classroom, Eger has a 3.89 GPA as an accounting major and has already signed on with the accounting firm KPMG following graduation. She is also a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Beta Gamma Sigma, a business honor society.

The Colonials are on the road at Massachusetts, Friday, with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.
