GW Women's Soccer's Samie Cloutier Named Second Team All-Atlantic 10
Nov. 3, 2011
2011 Women’s Soccer All-Conference Teams “Samie is one of the strongest one-on-one defenders we have ever had at GW,” said head coach Tanya Vogel (’96). “She is a leader on the field and takes that role very seriously. Samie is instrumental in the success of our defenders and she strengthens the team as a whole.” Cloutier has patrolled the back line for the past three seasons, starting all but one match in her career. Throughout the 2011 season, Cloutier helped GW post four shutouts, including three consecutive clean sheets to open A-10 play. The “Samie is a one-of-a-kind defender,” said senior goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe, who has worked with Cloutier the past three years. “She is relentless in her efforts to keep the ball out of the net, and she uses her voice to direct the team to prevent defensive breakdowns.” Cloutier will return for the 2012 season alongside fellow seniors Molly Bruh, Clare Roche, Adriana Moya and Kayley Sullivan.
