Nov. 4, 2009

Newport News, VA -- George Washington women's soccer senior Brittany Eger was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team Wednesday, prior to the start of the 2009 A-10 women's soccer post-season tournament in Charlotte, NC, on Nov. 5-8.

The midfielder from Sykesville, MD, finished the season as the leader in points (10) and goals (3) including three game-winners. Her fifth goal of the season was the game-winner in the 2-1 victory at Rhode Island, Nov. 1. Eger helped the Colonials open the season with a 2-1 win over Towson, scoring two goals, narrowly missing a third. Eger was also recently named on Oct. 30 to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 2 First Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

In four seasons at GW, Eger has started 47 matches and appeared in 71 matches. She doubled her career scoring this season with eight career goals for 21 points on 67 career shots.

In the classroom, Eger has a 3.89 GPA as an accounting major and has already signed on with the accounting firm KPMG following graduation. She is also a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Beta Gamma Sigma, a business honor society.

GW finished the season at 7-8-4 overall and 4-5-2 in Conference play to finish seventh in the 14-team league.
